Car Engine Maintenance Tips

Your engine is obviously one of the most vital parts of your vehicle, but somehow it's still overlooked by some when it comes to maintenance. With proper care, your engine may end up lasting for more years than expected. Here are some tips on how you can care for it:

Replace Your Spark Plugs

If your spark plugs are more than 30,000 miles old, replace them immediately. As they age, spark plugs may fail you when you need them the most causing it to pause and hiccup whenever you press on the gas which is always something you don't want to happen at any given time. A quick replacement of these parts will keep everything working smoothly again. Never allow dirt or oils to stay inside exposed areas like holes in the distributor cap since this can affect how well it works over time causing problems with starting up suddenly even if just a minute amount enters through that hole. Use wire wool or compressed air to rid off debris caught up inside exposed spaces which keeps things running smoothly again.

Timing Belt Replacement Tips

Not many people know this but a timing belt is one of the most important parts of a car, especially if it has an engine that doesn't have fuel injection. This part helps in creating a right angle between your valves and pistons and ensures they open and close at the right moments. For vehicles that do use a timing belt over a chain, replacement is recommend every 70k-100k miles.

Regular Oil Changes

Check your oil level regularly. If you want to know exactly when an oil change is needed, check if the dipstick says "Add" or not right before adding new oil to your car's engine. Regular oil changes are essential in order for your engine's life and maintenance over time and will save you some cash than if you decide not to change your oil regularly and later on causing damage in the long run . You must also check the transmission fluid level at least once every three months so that any leaks may be addressed immediately before they turn into big issues down the road.
